The mockingbird is a slim, grey bird with yellow-orange eyes and a long, sharp beak.The mockingbird can mimic the songs of 40 different birds, as well as sounds made by other animals, including cats.
A single mockingbird can have a repetoire of some 27 different songs.
The male mockingbird is the one who does all the singing; he sings to attract females.
Mockingbirds are very protective of their young and will even attack cats when baby birds are threatened.
The mockingbird is the official bird of the State of Texas.
